The PEER2PEER support group is part of “The Good Life,” a series of exercise and healthy aging programs for all those who are interested in keeping their minds and bodies in shape. “The Good Life” series is created by UC Davis School of Medicine, in partnership with the City of Oakland and sponsored by the California Department of Public Health.

“PEER2PEER” is part of PEER’s Wellness Recovery Action Plan®, or WRAP®. An evidence-based practice used worldwide by people dealing with mental or general health challenges and by those who want to attain the highest possible levels of wellness. WRAP® was developed by Dr. Mary Ellen Copeland PHd and focuses on self empowerment for wellness and wholeness rather than illness and sickness.

Stress Busters is a group who has given free stress reduction talks for the past 30 years to senior centers throughout San Francisco. Our presentations bring up examples of various stressful reactions in the form of skits. And we discuss how to use the Stress Busters 5-step method to help reduce the stress and resolve the situation.

Before the pandemic, we gave monthly in-person talks to 900 seniors at 36 sites in San Francisco – neighborhood senior centers, senior housing, and adult daycare facilities.

Presenter: Dr. David Lee, a pediatric dentist in San Francisco, has volunteered with Stress Busters since its founding 30 years ago. Dr. Lee is married with three grown children.
